SNOWMEN in Georgia!! (NOT!)

We rarely have snow in GA, but as a tribute to the holiday season (and to fulfill my commitment to an SCS swap), I've created my own snowman!
All products used were Stampin Up! unless otherwise noted. This card is totally cased from Gloria Pluckett's SU! website.  I didn't get to attend her class but loved the cards and decided to make them on my own. Thanks for inspiration Gloria!!

I used the adorable new set from the SU! Christmas mini called Snow Much Fun-an adorable set with snowmen, trees and other adorable creatures. I used two of the stamps from this set and combined them on one small WW CS rectangle. I used Momento ink to stamp the images and SU! markers to color them--Marina Mist, Early Espresso, and Cherry cobbler--But I really didn't have to do much coloring-the the stamp didn't need alot. I did use just a small amount of a C-2 copic to highlight the white on the snowman so it looked "real"-a tip I picked up from Cards magazine.

Then I sponged the edges of the white CS with Early Espresso ink and attached it to a rectangle of Marina Mist CS and attached 2 brown metal SU! brads. While  I used Cherry Cobbler CS for the card base, I added a second layer with some SU! DSP from their FrostWood Lodge collection after mounting some Early Espresso quilted ribbon across it. I also cut out a white shimmer paper snowflake and added a light blue snowflake brad to tie it all together. (The white shimmer paper is from Doodlebug Designs and I have NO IDEA where I got the blue snowflake brad! Sorry!!!

Hope you like this cute little snowman. I have a feeling he's going right to my favorite's list!!!
Merry Christmas!!!

Sail Away!!

I am totally in love with all things beachy and nautical. Today's card is one that I made for a turquoise and brown swap on SCS hosted by Angela. It combines the color combo with my love of the sea. All products used are from Stampin Up! unless otherwise noted.
I chose Temptingly Turquoise for the the card base. The "Sail Away" stamp was stamped with Choc chip ink onto Very Vanilla and cut into an oval with my nesties. I also used a label Nestie in Creamy Caramel under it. I sponged the edges of the Vanilla with Baja Blue and the edges of Creamy Caramel with Choc. Chip. I placed a strip of Baja Blue under that with a strip of Chocolate Chip along the bottom. I stamped "For You" with Versamark and used Temptingly Turquoise EP. Then I chose a Baja Blue cordoroy button and tied it on with twine.
All that was placed on a very Vanilla card front and attached to the base. I really like the way it turned out. LMK what you think!!!

Vintage Winter card

I made this card as my first attempt at a Vintage card. I used a digi that I found ages ago and unfortunately don't know the creator of. If anyone recognizes it, please let me know.
I used Copics to color her, then mounted her on Pretty in pink SU! CS. Then I took Very Vanilla cardstock and used the side doily punch to decorate each side. I sponged both the VV and the area around the vintage girl with Baha Breeze. I attached all those layers to Rose Red then to a Baha Breeze card.
I used Very Vanilla seam binding to make my bow, then attached a lovely hat pin to give it that vintage feel. Hope you like it!!!
I really enjoyed making it. I hope to explore more vintage items soon!!!

Hi all!!

Long time no see!!! It's been a little crazy around my house so I've not posted in forever. But that will change. I'm hoping to start posting at least weekly so you can see all I've been doing!! So here is my newest post. It's going to be entered into my friend Lauren's blog for her wonderful blog candy. She's been making the most beautiful rolled roses and I want to win some!!!
This was my first attempt using the fabulous flower Big Shot Die from SU!! Love it. As you can see my flower is a bit flat, so I hope to play around with it and see if I can make some 3-D flowers with it for future posts. All the supplies for this card are from SU!. I used Cherry Cobbler and Chocolate Chip CS as well as some Very Vanilla. I also used DSP from SU!'s amazing selection. The stamp is also from SU! as well as the lovely seam binding ribbon--Love that stuff!! I hope you like it!!!

Tri-fold shutter card

I've been wanting to try these cards for a while now, so when  Libby offered a swap on SCS for these, I had to give them a try. I used SU! back ground CS and DP as well as some random DP. I also used a sixxix die and some ribbon flowers, and charms I've had hanging around a while. I hope you like it. LMK what you think.!!!!

Wonderful encouragment!

I was sent the  link to this encouraging devotional by a very good friend--my SU! consultant. Wow it came at the right time. I've been spending way too much time communicating with my online friends and somewhat ignoring the husband right next to me. That ends now. DH and I need to share what little time we have together without email and phone call interruptions. Thanks for this reminder!!! I hope you will go to the link and be encouraged as I was. A few new cards

I've made tons of cards over the last month, but I won't bombard you with all of them. Just a couple. And I'll apologize in advance for the pitiful picture taking. Sometimes my camera just doesn't want to cooperate. Of course it couldn't be me!!! LOL!
This card was for Viv's May flower swap on SCS. It's hard to see but I clear heat embossed SU!'s Eastern Bloom and then sponged over it. I used reds and yellows and browns. Hope you like it!!! I got the idea from Card Maker magazine.

The next card is for Viv's Sketch challenge on SCS. I used the new SU! cupcake punch. Love It. I also used several Cuttlebug folders to emboss and add interest.
Enjoy!

Card with a book marker

New card for today. This card was made for Viv's(Blusky) Card with a book marker swap on SCS. I used SU! Tangerine Tango for the base and some unknown DP for the pink and floral backgrounds. The Happy Birthday image is a digi from Meljens Designs. I colored it in with copics and some SU! markers. I used SU! Kiwi Kiss ribbon for an accent with a small charm for embellishment.
The first picture shows the card all together. The second picture shows the bookmark removed from the card. It just slides behind the Happy Birthday image and the inside of the card and the two sides are held together with magnets. A magnetic bookmark!!! Perfect! You never have to worry about your bookmark falling out of your book and losing your place!!! Hope you like it!!! Leave me a message!!!

Lighthouse card

Finished working my card for an SCS Lighthouse Card swap. I just love the way the colors turned out. The stamp set I used was SU!'s A Light Unto My Path. I used SU! Crumb Cake CS for my base and to back the stamped images. I stamped the images with SU!'s Night of Navy and sponged the edges of them as well. I used a piece of Night of Navy CS as an additional layer after using my Cuttlebug to emboss the CS with the Divine Swirls CB folder.
You can't see it, but I also stamped a small seashell from the SU! set Seaside on the inside bottom right of the card to add a little something to it. Hope you like it!

Why haven't I used this stamp set before now???

I can't believe it's taken me this long to use this stamp set!! This is SU!'s Upsy Daisy set. I just had to have it when it came out over a year ago, and then I never used it. Thanks to Darlene on SCS for challenging me in her swap to use a set that I've not used before. I chose to ink the flowers with Versamark and then heat emboss with white EP. I used some SU! DP and cardstock from last years in colors that I had left. I think it can out quite cute!!

new cards for you to see!!!

Hi all!! I have some new cards to show you!!!! The first one is a graduation card I made for Viv's Jessica Lynn Swap on SCS. I used the Brentwood graduation made by Jessica Lynn Original Stamps and my sentiment and ribbon is from SU! I also used some designer paper from Creative Memories. I chose to use the gold, black, and white colors because my daughter is graduating from college this year and these are her school colors. So of course I made her a graduation card while I was stamping. But don't tell her!!!!
Don't ask me why my pictures are sideways. For some reason I couldn't get them to rotate. It must be too early in the morning!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!

Well I finally got my ribbon semi-organized. What a job that was!!! I had no idea how much ribbon I had. My hubby is threatening to call one of those hoarding shows!!! OH well!! It's looks better now anyway and hopefully it will function better.

I've also been working on a little late Christmas gift for a friend. I got the idea from Nichole-a friend on SCS-and decided to run with it. I just bought the purse sized 2-year Calendars from Michaels and used the inside graphics to help me to decide on a simple cover. I used some SU! paper, and embellishments from somewhere!! I found the sentiment on one the clear stamps I've had forever, but am not sure who designed them. I also used the spellbinders label #4 and some SU! Old Olive Ink to add texture to the diecute. I've already given out quite a few of these, but I'm going to show you a pic of the one I worked on today.

Wow!!

I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted anything here. Life has been nuttier than normal-both good and bad. But the good stuff is so good!!! My sweet daughter is engaged!! She got engaged back in September and the wedding is planned for Oct. 1, 2011. We've been working like mad on planning and deciding on invites. I think we finally have the design for the invitations, but I don't want to post them until we are sure. We are using a pearl shimmer trifold invite along with SU! Dusty Durango and cream paper and envies. We(I) am doing a design of clear stamping and embossing on the cover and inside as well. Then the printing will be done in chocolate brown. Then the whole thing will be folded up and tied with a burnt sienna ribbon. It's been so fun to plan.
Unfortunately that means that the other cards that I've had time to make, I simply haven't posted here because I just haven't had time. Hopefully now that we have the design, I can get back to posting my creations. We will be making the wedding invites in batches assembly line style-at least 150 of them-so that will be fun. But she is helping so it won't be too bad.
I've also been working on organizing my craft space-what a job! I decided to invest in a few clip it up organizational tools and a large clip it up ribbon organizer. What a difference that makes. I can see my stuff!!!! I'll post some pics of those too soon.
So here's the plan. I'm snowed in today-love it- so I'm going to make cards. I'll post what I get done in a little bit!!!
