JLO Challenge #3

I created this card for Jessica Lynn Originals Challenge #3 on her blogspot. I used one of her adorable new Christmas Brentwood Nutcracker stamps and added texture with my Snow Dots Cuttlebug folder, SU! white craft ink, and some SU! textured paper I had laying around. I also added a couple of star eyelets to match Brentwood's star on his Nutcracker hat.
I tried to come up with a clever sentiment and decided on Have a "Nutty" Christmas!!! Yes, I know it's corny, but I thought it was cute.
I also made a set of these cards for Viv's JLO Christmas swap on SCS. Hope you like it!!!

My third post for the day!

Okay, this blog this is still new and somehow I screwed it up!!! Surprise!!!!!!!!
Anyway, here is the 3rd project. It's another scrapbook page that features what I think of as the "Romeo and Juliet" Brentwoods-without the tragic ending of course! It also features my daughter and her now ex-boyfriend!. But I thought the colors all worked well together. I tried to use the Stampin Up! new incolors and it turned out pretty good. I hope you like the projects. More to come!!!
Sam

Hi everyone!!!

No I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Life has just been a little crazy for me lately. So I've decided to make it up to you by posting 3 projects today instead of one!!! All three projects feature my favorite little critter, Brentwood, whom you can find at www. jessicalynnorginal.com
I hope you like them!
The first project is a card that is all about the beach-my favorite place. Brentwood loves the beach too and is enjoying building his sandcastle as you can see here.

The second project is a scrapbook page that I've been wanting to do for a while. It includes pictures of the Salute to America 4th of July Parade that is held every year in Atlanta. The year these pictures were taken, my daughter was in the parade. It was awesome, but VERY HOT!!!
I used 2 patriotic Brentwood images to show both my pride in America and my gratefulness to the troops who fight for our country every day.

Derby Day

Ok, here's my rendition of Derby Day. I couldn't seem to hold the camera still--must be all those mint juleps!! LOL! Or the fact that I'm still a little weak from being sick.
Anyway, my inspiration came from Melissa's comment about hats and I remember a Unity stamp I had gotten yesterday that was a hat. Since I didn't have a Brentwood drinking mint juleps but I did have one of him drinking a martini, I decided to go with it. As you can see, I feminized him a bit. But he loves to play dress-up and just couldn't resist that beeuutiful hat!!!!!
See what you think!!!!

JLO Inspiration Challenge

Guess what's happening in Kentucky this weekend?

It's DERBY WEEKEND. Today is Oaks Day, tomorrow is Derby Day.

Do you want to learn more about the 135th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville? Check it out! There is also this neat quiz...where you can test your horse lingo.

So what's the KY Derby all about? Well...obviously, there's the horses. How about all the television stars, movie stars, country music stars, hats, flowers, fashion, royalty, food...I wouldn't knowWHERE to start with the food...Derby Pie, Mint Juleps, buffet...

I'm really likin' the big flowery hats. Yep...you read Mollymoo right...big flowery hats. Check 'em out. Aren't they fun?

Back to the horses, Jess has this cute pony in her store. Check out this guy...Future Rodeo Star...but he's still young...maybe he's to be a future winner of the Run for the Roses!

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to play along with the JLO DT and create something with JLO stamps inspired by the 135th Kentucky Derby. There's no time limit. If you don't have any JLO stamps, why not check out the FREE Brentwood digi stamp?

If you upload your project to SplitCoastStampers, use keywords JLOIC01 (JessicaLynnOriginal Inspiration Challenge 01). Additional keywords for this project could be Brentwood and/or JessicaLynnOriginal.

I'm looking forward to seeing your creations!

Open that starting gate and let those creative juices flow.

Run...baby...run!

Cards for the men in our lives!

Sometimes it's difficult to make a card for a man that isn't too frilly. Well, when I found this burlap ribbon, I knew it would be perfect for a man's card. The ribbon adds just the right amount of rugged texture that most men would appreciate. Hope you like it!

Jessica Lynn Originals

I have to tell you what an experience I had last night. One of my friends on SCS (Blusky) is hostessing a swap for Jessica Lynn Original stamps. They are the cutest stamps. There are several different lines but I love her Brentwood Owls the best.
Last night, Jessica herself joined us on the swap. She's shows up occasionally. Anyway, she offered a prize to the next person who could entice someone to join the swap. Well, I went crazy posting on all my threads, and what do you know??? I WON!!!! Yeah!!! I get a journal with Jessica's original artwork on the front!!! Connie(scrappinirish), who joined got a journal too! It was awesome!!! I hardly ever win anything so it's a big deal to me!!!
So for all of you who may not know of Jessica, I challenge you to go to www.jessicanlynnoriginal.com. You will NOT leave there without wanting to buy it all!!!! Oh, and I've applied for her design team. I probably won't be good enough, but I sure wanted to try. It would be wonderful to be able to design for such quality stamps!!!! Go check it out!!!
Sam

Tax day is over!!!

Finally, tax day has come and gone and I can once again get into the parking lot of the PO! I just don't know why so many people wait until the last minute--although if I had to pay a lot, I'd probably wait too!!! LOL!!

Now that April is half way over, my mind has begun to turn to summer and the beach. Check out these 2 cards that were made for my SCS Beach swap! Aren't they awesome??? I can just hear the waves and smell the salt air!!! I'm ready for the beach!!!

Sunburst tag punch flowers

I think this next card is one of my favorites ever. I made it for a Punch challenge on SCS. I wanted something different and remembered seeing a tutorial for using the tag punches to create sunburst flowers. So I started digging for it and finally found it. You can find it here.

It took a little time to do all the punching, gluing, and cutting, but I think it was definitely worth the effort. I hope you like it too and give this technique a try!

Helping out a friend!!!

Need Postcards

Pravan and Priyasha are doing a world wide tour through postcards. Please help them by mailing a postcard to us filled with facts about where it came from. Like the price of gas, the govenor, the capitol, the currency and anything else you think might educate them. Thank you so much for helping out. Look at the link to get my address and more info.

I've been so busy working on Swaps that I just haven't had a chance to post. Sooo, I'm going to post several cards at once. I hope you like them. LMK!!

Here's a card I've worked on for a Green Galore swap on SCS. I decided to go with a St. Patrick's Day. I think it turned out very cute!!

This card was for a black /white/ and silver/gray challenge. It was much harder than I anticipated it would be be, but I believe the white embossing and silver CB punched circle helps it pop. It's hard to see the silver, but try it and see how it looks for you!!

This was a fun card to make. It needed to remind me of spring and summer. The flowers and butterflies along with the prima flowers and DP was just the ticket. I love how the yellow and sage green/light teal work together.

This was a fun challenge! The idea was to make a pocket card using the new SU! Incolors. I think I managed to incorporate all of them except the tangerine. I love the riding hood red ribbon and the embellishment ribbon around the curves of the pocket card. I thought it turned out great! In the next picture, you can see the inside of the pocket card.

Sorry I can't rotate it, but you get the idea. Love this project. I'll be back tomorrow with more!!!
Sam
